The Northern Vegetarian Society (NVS) is based in the Greater Sudbury area of beautiful northeastern Ontario, Canada.
The NVS was founded in May 1994. Its purpose is to help the people of the area adopt and maintain a healthy plant-based lifestyle. It’s run completely by volunteers.
We organize vegan potlucks, social activities, vegan cooking classes, and special events. We also serve as a resource for local vegetarians, vegans, and for those who simply want to expand their diet to include more plant-based meals. The NVS also provides ways for local businesses that offer plant-based/cruelty free products/services to reach their clientele (ie. via our Veg Guide, social media pages, or special events.)
We define vegetarianism as the practice of not eating meat, poultry or fish or their by-products, with or without the use of eggs or dairy products.
